Alan Oldfield has resigned as Chairman of Thornhill Trojans. Alan was
appointed as Chairman at the clubs last Annual General Meeting but has
decided to stand down after 6 months in the position. The club has been
swift to appoint Richard Turner as Acting Chairman until the next Annual

TROJANS BOW OUT IN CUP
Thornhill's season unravels yet further with
this defeat at Egremont Rangers. After the defeat at Millom and now this
one, at Division two opposition, it just shows how much work will be needed
to be done by the coaching staff. The main fact of the matter is that the
team at the moment is just too inexperienced, with just a handful of
experienced players at its heart. We are not too badly placed in the
forwards but the defence is unfortunately not up to the job.

TROJANS THRASHED IN YORK
There was no Christmas cheer for Thornhill this year as their miserable
season continued with this drubbing at title chasing York Acorn. The
visitors couldn’t have arrived at a worst time as the hosts were giving a
home debut to former Dewsbury Ram Scott Rhodes. With the home side also
wanting to make the most of their few remaining home fixtures Thornhill were
unceremoniously put to the sword. With Scott Rhodes adding to a host of
seasoned ex-professional players already in the Acorn ranks this was simply
a case of men against boys – so much so that the referee blew up slightly
early to put Thornhill out of their misery.

TROJANS SECURE FIRST WIN
That long awaited victory for the Trojans has at last materialised with
the Thornhill outfit finally hitting the ground running and what a sweet day
for me as it’s the first win that I have been able to write about this
season. The whole of the Thornhill team were instrumental in this win and
not one player shirked any of the tackles required

NEW COACHING TEAM
At a meeting on Thursday night, after training, the new coaching staff at
Thornhill Trojans were introduced to the players. The new team consists of
Richard Butterworth plus that legend of the bygone era when men were men and
other players used to quake in their boots, Keith Mason along with Keith's
son Keith Mason Young Keith will be in charge of the new fitness regime. |
REF SAVES TROJANS BLUSHES
The journey across the M62 was a lovely drive with blue skies and just a few
wispy clouds to mar the blue. Unfortunately just as we arrived at the ground
the first snowstorm of the year enveloped Rosmead Street and the wind and
snow were in the faces of the Trojans for the whole of the first half.
