2 TROJANS TEAMS TO BATTLE
OUT LOCAL FINALS
The Heavy Woollen Cup Final between Thornhill Trojans Under 15's and Shaw
Cross Sharks Under 15's is to be played on Monday 19th May at Dewsbury Moor
- kick off 6:30pm. The Jim Brown cup final between Thornhill Trojans A Team
and Batley Boys kicks off at 7.00pm at Mount Pleasant on Friday 23rd May. |
DON'T FORGET THE PRESENTATION
EVENING
The presentation evening will take place on Friday 16th May 2008 at
Thornhill Sports & Community Centre. Awards for the 1st team, 'A'
team and Under 18's will be given out as well as general club
awards. The evening starts at 7:30 and will be compared by Malcolm
Lord. Tickets cost £5 and includes in Indian Cuisine style buffet

MORE DISCIPLINARY NEWS
Scott Dyson has been banned for 2
matches and fined £40 for being sent off at Leigh Miners in the last game of
the season. In the same game Thornhill were found guilty of brawling and
fined £250 as this was their second brawl of the season. The club are also
fined £70 for reaching 70 disciplinary points and a further £80 points for
reaching 80 disciplinary points. |
FOLANS APPEAL REJECTED
James Folan appealed to BARLA against the ban and fine imposed on him by
the NCL following his sending off against Leigh East. The appeal was
attended by James Folan and Chairman Andrew Wilson. After hearing the
evidence the appeal was dismissed by BARLA and the ban until 1st
December 2008 along with the £150 fine still stand. Player Coach Scott
Dyson, who was sent off in the 76-0 defeat at Leigh Miners on the last
day of the season, is still waiting to hear from the NCL. The NCL
disciplinary panel doesn't meet again until early May when they will
also be considering they referee's report from the same game which has
cited both the Trojans and Leigh Miners for brawling. |

COPLEY FOUND NOT GUILTY
At a BARLA disciplinary hearing held on Monday evening at Elland WMC,
Thornhill Trojans Robert Copley made a personal appearance to explain the
circumstances surrounding his dismissal against Wath Brow Hornets on the
National Cup. After hearing the evidence presented by Robert and Secretary
Andrew Byram, the Disciplinary panel reached a verdict of not guilty. |
PATCH GOES OUT FIGHTING AS TROJANS ARE
DESTROYED IN RECORD DEFEAT
A toothless performance from the
Trojans provided little resistance for the Miners and at times it was a case
of men against boys as the home team ran in 15 tries. This was a record
defeat for Thornhill, surpassing the 66-0 score line against Super League
Catalan Dragons in the Rugby League Cup two seasons ago.
